The Title Maintenance Screen
Purpose
The Title Maintenance screen collects information on the titles you maintain in inventory.
Fields
Title Id
This is a unique identifier for the title. If the title entered is found in the Title file, the record contents are displayed for editing purposes. You can not enter duplicate Title ID's.
Title
This is an edit field that allows you to enter the full title or description for the inventory item. Click with your mouse on the scroll bar to the right of the field to move up and down through the text. Use the TAB key to move on to the next field.
ISBN
This is the ISBN (International Standard Book Number) for the title.
Retail Price
This is the retail price for the title. It will be used as the default price when the title is specified in a customer order or return.
Carton Wt.
This is the weight in pounds of the carton.
Carton Ct.
This is the number of this title that is normally shipped in one carton from the supplier.
Weight
This is the weight of the book in pounds and ounces.
Out of Print?
Answer "Y" to this prompt if the title is no longer in print. Out of Print titles can later be selected for archival.
Reorder Ct.
If the local inventory count for this title goes below the quantity entered here, you will be prompted to reorder as soon as possible. The reorder count is also use to determine a minimum quantity to order when forecasting requirements for the title in a purchase order.
Comment
This is an edit field that allows you to store or edit comments for the title. Click with your mouse on the scroll bar to the right of the field to move up and down through the text. Use the TAB key to move on to the next field.
Enter authors and royalty specifics?
Answer "Y" to this prompt to associate authors with the title and to enter their royalty contract specifics.
Choose Supplier?
Answering "Y" to this prompt will cause Publishers' Assistant to present you with a list of existing supplier contacts in a popup. If the title is from a new contact, Escape from the popup, and the Supplier Contact screen will be presented to allow you to enter or select a new supplier.
Consignment?
Answer "Y" to this title if you are selling the title on consignment.
Enter title cost data?
Answering "Y" to this prompt calls forth either the Title Cost Schedule or the Consignment Cost Schedule screen.
Note: If the title is being sold on consignment, no consignment liabilities will be logged if there are no title cost records found for the title.
Order Lead Time
Enter the number of calendar days it typically takes to receive this title from the supplier. The Lead Time is used for forecasting when entering purchase orders. If you enter 21 days in this field, Publishers' Assistant will look at the number of this title you have sold in the last 3 weeks when forecasting your requirement for the title in a purchase order.
There are several variables in forecasting a requirement for a title. Setting this value to zero will keep Publishers' Assistant from trying to look at the number of titles sold in determining that requirement.
Genre
This is simply a category for the title that you may find useful when selecting titles for reports.
